Good Behaviour Period
People who have had their driver’s licence suspended by the RTA due to accumulating demerit points can apply for a 12 month good behaviour period. The condition to entering the good behaviour period is the driver will serve twice the suspension period if they reoffend during that good behaviour period. That offence must hold 2 or more demerit points.
Only people who hold a ‘fulls’ drivers licence may apply for a good behaviour period. This option is unavailable to ‘P’ or ‘L’ platers.
You cannot apply to enter another good behaviour period if you have offended whilst serving out a good behaviour period.
The good behaviour election must be made prior to the suspension beginning.
