Will I Still Lose My Points If I Am Not Convicted?
If you appear before the court for a traffic matter and you are found not guilty of a demerit point offence, your matter will be dismissed. You will not lose any of your points and fines will not be issued or recorded.
However, if you are found guilty but you are not convicted of the offence (i.e. section 10(1) of the Crimes (Sentencing Procedure) Act), you will still lose your points. The court currently does not have the power to prevent this from happening. It is the RTA that must apply the relevant number of demerit points.
